LJ activity #4: Restating the Obvious
If you wake up at 6 am, it's raining, and you jump on your bike and go outside, the wind and cold will take the opportunity to say hi! And you may ask yourself, "what the hell was I thinking?" But boy, I've never been more awake at 8 am.

Way to go! Really. Don't mind my initial reaction.

Thanks. Don't give me too much credit, though. I was teetering on the brink of not going, looking for any excuse. Having a riding partner helps a lot!

I'll have to think about that technic if I ever need to be exceptionally awake and clear minded at 8am!
Are you training for STP or something?

The reason I'm doing these rides is to wake up my legs in time for the "Chilly Hilly", which is on Sunday. It's where a whole bunch of cyclists ride around Bainbridge Island. It's very, uh, hilly. I was thinking about doing STP, but I've heard it's a relatively dull ride. I will be doing RSVP again this year (the one that goes to Vancouver, BC), and I will be riding all season with that in mind.

I've heard of another hilly ride north of seattle, don't recall the name of it or the exact location (mt baker?)but I hear that its a 'killer'!
stp, yes dull and flat.
what does r and p stand for in the rsvp
i assume s=seattle
and v=vancouver
In any case it is good to have a goal and reason to be up in the cold and rain on your bike at 6am.
:)

The ride north of seattle might be the "Ride around Mt. Rainier in one day", which is definitely a more macho ride. Especially with its hilarious acronym of RAMROD.

As for your question, the R is for ride, and the P is for Party, which is what they have at the end. Ride Seattle->Vancouver + Party. I didn't stay too long at the party, due to having an extremely great hotel room with an extremely great person, and we stayed in bed for nearly 2 days watching seaplanes land and enjoying everything. I'm getting reservations there again, for certain.
