The current fun thing to do with your livejournal if you have no new tale to tell:
Put your mp3s on shuffle (or sort > randomize them) Post the first 30 songs that come up. Do not eliminate any songs that you're ashamed to like.

Andr00's first random 30 out of 4321 mp3's:
---

  1. Roots Manuva - Brand New Second Hand - 13 - clockwork
  2. Orbital - Orbital - 07 - Chime
  3. Metamatics - A Metamatic Production - 08 - Two the Point
  4. Jean Michel Jarre - Images - 02 - Equinoxe (Part 5)
  5. Amon Tobin - Permutation - 01 - Like Regular Chickens
  6. Sister Machine Gun - Sins Of The Flesh - 03 - Degenerate
  7. ohGr - welt - 04 - earthworm
  8. Modest Mouse - Lonesome Crowded West - 05 - Jesus Christ Was An Only Child
  9. Various Artists - Industrial Revolution Second Edition (Disk 2) - 06 - Nik Turner - Walking in the Sky
  10. Faith No More - The Real Thing - 04 - Surprise! You're Dead!
  11. They Might Be Giants - Lincoln - 01 - Ana Ng
  12. Skinny Puppy - The Singles Collect - 12 - Deep Down Trauma Hounds
  13. Shiva Chandra - Lunaspice - 06 - Metasynth
  14. EZ Rollers - Weekend World - 17 - Synesthesia
  15. Ozric Tentacles - Jurassic Shift - 06 - Pteranodon
  16. TBFJ - legend of zelda (orchestral)
  17. Dom & Roland - Industry - 07 - Time Frame
  18. Mix Master Mike - Anti-Theft Device - 28 - Electrocute
  19. takagi - track 1
  20. Mr Scruff - Keep It Unreal - 01 - Is He Ready
  21. KMFDM - Angst - 02 - A Drug Against War
  22. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Live Art (disc two) - 04 - Blu-Blop
  23. Fischer Spooner - #1 - 01 - Sweetness
  24. Killing Joke - - 09 - Primitive
  25. Circle Of Dust - Circle Of Dust (remixed) - 04 - Rational Lies
  26. His Name Is Alive - Ten Years Long Time (Detroit 11-18-00) - 02 - not getting married
  27. Front 242 - Front by Front [re-release] - 13 - Work 242 N.OFF is N.OFF
  28. Mindless Self Indulgence - Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy - 11 - Harry Truman
  29. Material - Seven Souls - 05 - Seven Souls

I took those instructions pretty literally, though I'm not really ashamed to like any songs I like, I wouldn't say that I like all the music I have on disk. Uh... and since I rip all the albums I own entirely to mp3, I have a lot of not-so-hits available for the random thing to pick up. I still have all the comp discs I ever bought in the library. I forgot I had so much ninja tune stuff.

I dunno what that takagi track is called. "TBFJ" is a compilation of wacky music I got from my little brother (whose birthday it was 3 days ago. Happy 24th, Ian!) Fortunately, the C=64 songs didn't start coming up till right after I was done with the 30, so you'll never know how many albums of that stuff I have. whew!

Oh crap, that's only 29. Well, the very next track that came up (which made me write the previous paragraph) is:

  1. Chris Abbott - Back In Time 3 Companion - Sanxion 2000

Really? I don't know anyone else who will listen to MSI on purpose. Well, excepting you guys, I guess. But I mean in person. Ok, except [info]kdarr.

a couple friends of mine saw them live in boston last month. i wouldve been there but i was on a "date" seeing lord of the rings. i think it's weird having to choose between MSI and LotR cos they're at about opposite ends of the spectrum. the singer spit on a bunch of people or something.

Well that means you've got something ORIGINAL to post.

As for me, I want to share my big beautiful self with everyone, but I couldn't think of something to say. I know that a random sampling of someone's MP3s says something about that person - BUT WHAT?!?! You just have to try and see some sort of unifying theme.. hmmm... largely electronic and industrial-like music with some hip hop and alternative, and a smattering of "other". Clearly, I spent my childhood hanging out with the weird kids, if I even hung out with anyone. I probably wear dark colors and live in a city. I own at least one thing which is metal, black, and has pink graphics painted on it.

It is not quite as loud as a motorcycle. My black and pink hardware is limited to 2 rack-mounted musical effects processors and 1 multi-function foot controller, all manufactured by the musical equipment company called A.R.T., famous for their pink graphics. So I can not take you for a ride, but you can stand on the foot controller and push buttons with your feet. It's pretty fun.

one of his songs was in this car commercial with a mini van with like a million doors and it looked like it had some mini van poltergeist cos all the doors were going all crazyish i think the song was "get a move on" i saw it while we were watching tv in sociology class and almost screamed like a little girl

Yeah, the first song I heard by Mr. Scruff was Fish. How do I know? Because the word "fish" occurs in the song about 3.5 bazillion times.

I would love to take part in this particular game...

But I don't have any .mp3s. All the music I own is encoded onto ancient, reflective polymer objects that strongly resemble beer coasters.

Man, I would love to rip all my cd's to .mp3, but that would take FOREVER. I might be past the 700 count now.

The reason why is that mp3s are massless data and can move around almost by themselves. I have all my albums on a giant hard drive in a server connected to my wireless network. If I want to listen to any of the songs I have in there, I only need type its name into the mp3 player software, and it finds and plays it. Or I can shuffle-play every song I own, 15 straight days of unrepeated music. My CDs and their cases do not clutter up my work area, they hide in boxes, in a storage closet, in case I ever need to re-rip them.

When I go biking or wandering, I can easily store a couple albums of mp3s in a tiny skip-proof portable mp3 player the size of a box of tic-tacs. (skip proof, very important!)

Finally, if I'm at work at a place with internet access, I can copy whichever mp3s I like from my home network to my work machine, rather then being stuck with whatever CDs I have brought with me.

The snow globe IS a christmas decoration. And it has been taken down. Next commercial holy day: Valentines. Guess I'll load up the graphics with some of those baby angels or dead babies or whatever those things are with the archery sets.
