This morning I took part in a usability study. Woke up early, got dressed, made coffee that would strip the zinc off nickels, and had plenty of time to sit around wondering if I was going to slide off the snowy freeway and die on my way there. I realized I wouldn't be eating for at least 3 hours, so I made myself a peanut butter and honey sandwich.

"I am so prepared," I thought, "early enough to get car fuel, make sure the tires are all the same pressure, deposit my unemployment check, and get to redmond in time." That's when I flipped half my sandwich off the counter.

Fortunately, the rest of the day was uphill from there. I got to be the most normal looking person at the study! Poor, normal, likes-to-bathe-every-day me.

Um

1. I get my check on Tuesdays, generally. Did you just get home from LA?

2. What the fsck type of usability study was it - I kinda get the impression there were a large number of people there who didn't like to bathe every day. Which would make them, um, not exactly targets for good usability studies. In that, they'd be using things away from people who breathe.

Or they'd be my friend Jelly, who is clean but hates to bathe for some reason. I don't get it.

1) No, I've just been shut in. I batch bank transactions when possible.

2) I'm sorry, my NDA says I can't tell you anything about it. I can, however, mutter something about "career gamers" and pretend it is irrelevant.

Oh, they're still doing that? Hell they haven't called me for almost 2 years now. Bizzarre.

I can say that the NDA is now out on all the games I tested.

I should sign up again. Cept this time for the professional stuff. Or, oh who cares (: I'll sign up again.

I feel ya! I was on my way to an important business meeting and decided I'd better pick up a bite to eat before I got there, since those damned meetings can go on forever sometimes. My choice was cherry-filled donuts. A car cut in front of me on the interstate, and I was forced to hit my brakes hard, thus pressing cherry donut all over my very white, starched shirt. There was no time for going back and changing, However, the look on their faces when I walked in the meeting with red seeping all over the front of my chest was priceless. I thought about pretending to collapse, but I figured that would have been a little 'too dramatic' It's all good.

Oh no! The heartrending tragedy of donuts. There is a genre of andr00 stories that all start with me eating powdered donuts and wearing lots of black. Now that I think about it, you can probably infer the rest of the story from there.

I don't know you, but I just found your journal and I reccomend that maybe you could try and different sort of sandwhich? I would think that you'd get pretty sick of it.
