Training Ride, woo. I also cleaned some stuff in my house. The conflicts between these two fascinating activities became apparent when I came back from my ride: I needed a shower and all my towels were in the washer, soaking wet. So I had to dry myself off with the closest towel approximation I could improvise, which was a heap of washcloths. YOU try wrapping up your hair with that.

I *have* tried wrapping up my hair with that!

I've also discovered, mid-shower, that all the towels were wet (don't ask me why I didn't check before I got in) and therefore used washcloths, Tshirts, a bathrobe, and on two occassions, the shower curtain itself.

Hrm. I haven't bothered trying to wrap my hair with -that-

...but I'm really very fond of the camping towels that continue to dry when wet - and always know where my towel is!

"Camping" towels? Do elaborate!

Is this something I would find at REI?

Now that I'm awake, they're generally called "pack towels", and have a similar texture to chamois. The ones that I'm really fond of are much more towel-feeling, but soak up enough water to dry me off completely (including the hair) after swimming. Predictably I can't remember what they're called... I got mine at Helimot European Accessories (www.helimot.com), and they're worth every penny. I didn't see them listed on their web site, or I'd have posted that link. Try calling - they're friendly people (although they, like every other motorcycle shop in the area, aren't open on Monday).
