Story? Did you just happen to have a copy of Neuromancer lying around?

Well, the story is that I read Gibsons blog (though it is much faster to just go to http://www.williamgibsonbooks.com/blog/blog.asp ) and I saw that he was going to the UW. So I was at Kane Hall when he was, through the grace of Helen's alarmingly swift city driving.

I wouldn't have, but Helen thought to bring it when she picked me up from work. I am seriously happy she did so. I wondered, did Gibson do any readings up there recently? Does he do signings in Vancouver?

Since he lives here I don't see why he wouldn't do readings/signings with a new book out, but I haven't kept up with literary event listings so I don't know for sure. I heard he's keeping a blog though.

I know I'm no fun... but (to quote Gibson's blog):

ONE-DAY LAYDOWN
That’s what publishers shoot for: the new book in every store on the same day, and not sooner. Tomorrow’s that day, for PATTERN RECOGNITION. I get up way too early, fly to Seattle in a funny little Air Canada prop effort, and it begins. The first signing of the tour will be:
Monday, February 3, 2003
University Bookstore
Kane Hall
4326 University Way N.E.
Seattle, WA 98105
7:00 PM
Reading, Signing and Q&A
Turn up and see a fresh, pristine, pre-Tupperware author read (probably) the novel’s opening scene. Thereafter, check in here to chart the steady decline into interview-fried zombiehood.

Yeah, from now on your name is Cat "No Fun" Xeger. I got to sit in the third row in Kane Hall while he read. Now when I read his blog, I can hear it in my head, in his deliberate, accent-free voice.
