Current mood:completely brilliant

While frying chicken last week, I got oil splattered all over the entire rangetop and surrounding counters and floor. Last night, I fried more chicken and spread paper towels everywhere oil might go. This proved very effective right up to the point where paper towels started catching on fire. Fortunately (though this is probably bad feng shui) there's a sink right across from the stove.

Lesson learned: gas stove is good at catching things, especially oil-soaked paper, on fire.

you can buy these circular mesh things, kinda like a tennis racket for the kitchen. They exist so that you can put them over frying pans and the grease ceases to go willy nilly.

=)

Helen has been trying to tell me about this exact same product, but I wasn't quite getting it. But "tennis racket for the kitchen"... ohhhh! I've seen those! Yes, that would be a good idea.
