    Time Event
    12:38a
I blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

Ahem, sorry. One sometimes gets very self conscious of how tedious and wanky his journal is.

Okay, once again! This weekend was the "RSVP", the triple metric century bicycle ride from Seattle to Vancouver that I did last year with [info]autosloth. This year we were gonna do it again, then things got really busy, then our bikes got stolen. So no. But I made hotel reservations anyway because I just like Vancouver too much to NOT go, and I like the tradition and want to do it (with the ride) next year.

Last year, the second day of the ride included a good 70 miles of pouring rain. At the time, people told me that it doesn't usually rain during RSVP, which happens during the nicest weather of the year. This year, we drove northward as a thousand helmeted heads simultaneously pedaled for the same destination. Then the clouds broke. Second year in a row, the RSVP got soaked! I suppressed feelings of glee and felt bad for missing the ride. The wet, cold, 200 mile ride. Awww. Next year!

We did try to make up some exercise while up in B.C. We did the "Grouse Grind", which is a trail up Grouse Mountain. A very, very steep trail, with multiple signs warning climbers that it is difficult, steep, you're gonna die, blah blah blah. People run up this trail, and trail running is my new hilariously strenuous leisure time activity which staves off early death by heart failure. So we did this! How steep is it? Ok, do this: Stand up straight, and look at a point at the same height as your eyes. Now tilt your head back as far as it will go just by bending your neck, and let your eyes track upwards as your head tilts back, That's where the trail goes, on the grouse grind. It took us an hour and 15 minutes to walk it, 1.8 miles and 2800 feet of elevation gain. No actual "running" occurred, other than a brief sprint for the tram back down. (when the tram popped up over the ridge, it paused, then swayed precariously, provoking a convincing group scream from the densely sardined passengers) Then we went on a bike ride around the city. Doing a couple of exercisey activities one right after the other like this is called "bricking".

Ok, so I related that. Now I am going to sleep, like a brick.
