That'll teach me to turn off my desktop c. I turned it on this morning and went away to make the coffee. While I'm wrist deep in a sudsy press pot, it starts beeping like self destruct is activated. I go over and look, and it says CPU FAN NOT RUNNING. SHUT DOWN? (Y/N) and I plop a big runny finger on Y because a 1+ GHz cpu will incinerate itself very quickly without proper heatsinking. I open the case up, restart. Same warning, the fan visibly rotating. The BIOS monitor says it's spinning at a good couple-thousand RPM. So, I know it works, and the motherboard knows it works, but for some reason the startup test doesn't think it works. Is my mb going crazy? Or is it the world around me? Bastard computer. It knows I can't afford to replace it. That's what I get for tracking my finances online.
