San Francisco! It's hot... but it's cold! It's friendly... but everyone's an asshole! There are lots of streets... but they all suck! There are interesting places to see... but you'll never be able to park near them!
I just happened to pick "Bay to Breakers" day to be in SF. It's some kind of weird running event in which people dress up like far side characters (traditionally the "fat kid" character) or don't wear anything at all, then they run from the ferry building to the ocean. And have a big party. And take up all the motels all weekend.
Simultaneously, two triathlons were going on, so all the road bikes were rented from blazing saddles, so Beanie (my sister) had to bike around with me on a boingy (and slow) mountain bike.
Oh right, and the famous SF weather. Saturday the weather was a cliche, sunny and kind of humid. Sunday it poured like a motherfucker, or some other bad thing. Not typical.
I was only there for a couple days, and one day was spent visiting Helen's friend Yvonne, who had recently finished her documentary, and it won some kind of award. If it goes to sundance, I imagine we'll be travelling there, too.
