I guess I would have been surprised out of my mind if Cingular had actually followed up on their promise to have a phone for me today if I prepaid at the beginning of the week. As it is, completely failing this one thing is consistent with every other interaction with phone companies I've ever had. The model of the relationship is: I give them money, and they cause me a headache. Like a teenage kid, huh?

Oh well. My old phone isn't dead or anything. It is, if nothing else, bombproof. Battery's still good. It has survived numerous high speed intersections with concrete. Reception's good. In fact, all these things are why I've waited so long to replace it. New phones seem to be made out of flimsy plastic all around, at least here in the USA. (Japanese cell phones make ours look paleolithic). I figured I would only replace the starTAC if a phone came out that was made of metal. Well, that phone exists now. So that's why I'm dealing with Cingular.

It's the motorola v3. Sometimes called the "RAZR", but I'm pretty sure I'm pronouncing it wrong. In fact, I'm pronouncing it as wrong as I possibly can imagine.

In a recent CONSUMER REPORTS THINGIE I saw that overall, customer satisfaction with cell phone providers is evenly crappy, except that people seem slightly more all right with Verizon. Which is funny, considering what I've read about em.

The Motorola V3 RAZR? I've been waiting for that phone myself for months. It's nickname around here is "The New Hotness."

Yep, you got it in one. I, uh.. actually put my name on that list to hear "more about it" when they first announced the thing. Yeah I am a consumer dorkbutt.

I feel like such a geek. I just checked out consumer reports, I remembered how you talked about frecetta pizza in one.

Frecetta! Its betta!

Those words were said about 35345342 times durring this marathon of the X Files that my dad and I watched on tv on thanksgiving a few years ago when my mom was out of town. There was this old lady on the comercial showing it, those and imacs. Later, we got kind of hungry and decided to go to the store and nab us some of that Betta Frecetta. But to our dismay, it was past the hours of service (for thanksgiving day at least) at the grocery store! So we were forced to the lowely.....Dominos! *shudders*

Actually it was pretty yummy.

Not that that has anything to do with cell phones. Sorry :)

Man, I barely know what the hell I am buying these days. Without TV commercials, I just have to go by reviews (if I remember to look up reviews of FOOD) and what the box says. See, I don't even know this Etta woman.

I know guys that worked at a wide variety of pizza places, but I don't know anyone who has worked at domino's. Dominos? Is the chain called "DOMINOS" like a bunch of dominos or does it belong to some guy named Domino? Ah who cares

Anyhow, don't worry if your comment has no obvious connection with my post. I encourage that sort of free-association.

They are good for making phone calls, if you ever need to do that. But you have to make sure to ignore them as much as possible, especially in the car and when in crowded areas with no noise abatement.

I have a Cingular, and it was the worst mistake I've ever made. I have absolutely no reception at all inside my house, it's really annoying that everytime someone calls me I have to go outside and stand on the sidewalk at the corner of the damn street if I wanna talk (we live like a house away from that corner) and I always go home feeling like a prostitute because guys keep asking me if I "need a ride".
MORAL OF THE STORY

Cingular makes people mistake you for a whore.

Yeah, [info]kdarr has to do that too. The reception in my house is awful as well, but my phone uses an ancient signalling method, and my house is kind of adobe-looking, which makes me think it has a layer of wire mesh holding the walls together. Can you say faraday cage?

How many different cell service providers have you tried? It's not easy to compare, since they practically force you to have a 2 year contract and get a new phone, so by the time you try the next service, all the technology is different.

This is my first cell phone, I used to think having a cell phone was useless, but now that I have it it's almost like I feel empty with it not in my pocket. When this damn contract is up, i'm gonna switch to something else, it's really getting annoying. Hell, even if I have to tape a damn fork to this thing, it's better than standing on the corner at night when it's so cold outside.
