Two road bikes stolen out of my locked, alarmed car out of my locked, gated apartment garage.
I'm in Capitol Hill, Seattle, WA. I am offering a cash reward for these, $600.00 for the bikes, no questions asked.
Yellow and black Raleigh R-700
Black, Red, Orange "flame" colored Cannondale R1000

The yellow bike is not very common, if you see it in a bike shop, email me at andr00@earthlink.net subject: stolen bike.
also email me with any other info.

A dude called me and offered sympathy. Total stranger! Just got my number off a flyer I posted and commisserated that he lost a bike and really feels my pain.

My bike was really a sentimental object for me. It was there with me in the middle of the high desert when 9/11 happened. It has gone all the way to Vancouver with me. It almost helped me die of thirst and then saved me out in Grand Coulee. Random dude probably understands this.

I've had the same crappy mountain bike for about five years. I broke all the breaks off and spray painted it three different colors. It helped me get away from cops and people I don't like. It still sits outside with flat tires just waiting to get stolen by some enraged moron that can't drive. Hasn't been taken away yet.

I realise that it won't make up for anything, but is it possible that your insurance will cover the bikes? I know that if it were me, my auto insurance would likely cover it (since they were in the car), but if not, your renters insurance should take care of it. (I'm assuming that even a largish deductible of $500+ is still less than the replacement cost.)

I hope something good happens to you today!

Also, if I run into the thieves here in London, I will chainsaw them.

wait wait wait

When did Canondale buy Raleigh? Or is it the other way around?

I remember when I was growing up getting major shit for having a Raleigh bike. Cuz everyone else had, you know, bikes with names people knew. The fact that mine was actually worth something of course was pretty much not useful. And of course it wasn't a good idea to have me on an expensive bike anyway cuz the thing would eventually either get stolen or i'd outgrow it, so the wisdom of putting me thru the whole process yet again of being having nothing that anyone else had was you know, stupid.

But. Anyway. When did Canondale buy Raleigh?

I'm sorry if I was confusing, I am actually talking about two bikes here: 1 Cannondale R1000 road bike. And 1 Raleigh R700 road bike. Don't worry, they are still bitter competitors.

GOD,how did that happen? Locks, alarms, gates... I wish you luck. Totally a bad day for you. A Raleigh was my first "serious" bike. Oh, I loved it and had to sell it for baby food back in the day. Man, I feel so crappy for you. Just totally ripped off and banged up. WHY do bad things happen to great people? Bad people just suck. So sorry, man.

Oh, I figure that ambient chaos in Seattle has risen to an unsafe degree and I just had to absorb some of it. Yeah, that's a good way to think about it.

Thanks. I was really quite attached to my bike and will have a hard time getting used to it being gone.

I hate all thieves. You get your money by working your ass off and gaining a honest living. Whilst someone else just takes it. It sux.....there should be some kinda law against it...oh yeah there is.

Hope you get your bikes back, they look better than your average bike.
