Current mood:trying to remember what the demo with the vector bob guy and his weight lifting wife was called

GLOF (or: sunburnt in seattle)
I spent today golfing. I had never been golfing before, but my workplace likes to celebrate successfully making software things and letting other people use them. So this time we golfed (last time we sailed.) It turns out that on a golf course, you don't actually hear the word "golf" uttered very often. I did my part to try and raise the ambient golfyness, just as I am doing now. Golfing, as it turns out, is not as easy or boring as they make it look on TV. When the heavy end of the golf stick you are holding approaches the tiny white golf ball at about a thousand golf miles an hour, it isn't easy to control exactly where (or if) it actually makes golfable contact. Thus I did a lot of not-exactly straight golfing. I improved somewhat over 9 holes (GOLF HOLES), and by the end I was consistently making the chunk of turf which was right next to the ball fly downrange pretty far.

Oh yeah. Driving those little carts around is exactly as fun as I thought it would be, as a kid.

Really? I think you'd really like the game "simgolf". So much golfiness, no actual golfing. Oh wait, there's a tiny bit of golfing. But it's mostly about creating a golfy atmosphere.

Golf rules.

I haven't been out golfing for 2 years, but while I'm here, I'm supposed to go one day with Mub and GC and KinVig.

I don't remember that demo - it's not juggler - more info please, like platform, etc?

The demo is an OCS Amiga demo, circa late 89-90. It was mainly bobs on vectors - a blue guy with red arms doing stuff, trying to lift a weight and his arms come off. His purple wife tries it, and she manages no problem, he faints.. there's a green vector bob helicopter. What I'm REALLY after is the soundtrack, which I would describe as sort of whimsical, bouncy techno-funk. Sort of 4mat-y, really, except it's not him.

I've been cracking up laughing here for the last few minutes after reading your entry. I wish you could have taken a video of your adventures 'golfing' and hell yeah, my favorite part about the 'golfing' experience is driving the cart especially if I have a friend with me "evil grin" I'm glad you apparently had a good time, Pal. I can't wait to hear what your next 'celebration' is going to entail. Peace

Ah, video. You would've seen: lots of flying turf. The QA manager driving off while I'm trying to put a club back in the bag attached to the back of the cart. A putt kicked in. Low-speed golf cart chases and accidents. That kind of thing. Man, it's a good thing there's no video of that day.
