34. The only computer I felt allegiance to was the Amiga, which is commercially dead. Mac vs. PC vs. foo nix? Ah, who cares as long as I can do work. My phony persecution is worse than your phony persecution. (OS/2,NeXT,ST people: you know my pain)
35. I wear a size 13.5 shoe.
36. I really like my car, which is a black 97 Volvo 850R station wagon (6.9/15.3). I wish it didn't have to run on gasoline or belch toxic fumes.
37. I kind of like clumsy, amateurish recordings. The real kind, not the ones made clumsy and amateurish on purpose.
38. I got all picky about coffee all of a sudden, after living in Seattle for 6 years. Now I have a burr grinder and two press pots at home. And I buy my beans at Vivace, the day after they roast them.
39. I will still drink the office coffee, if that's all there is, though it tastes sort of like butter. I kind of like things that suck, I guess.
40. I don't drink alcohol very often. When I do, I just get slightly more talkative.
41. I like donuts a lot. They comfort me with their toroidal breadiness. The best no-frills donuts in Seattle are at Family Donut, across the street from the northwest corner of Northgate mall.
42. When I'm programming some 3D graphics thing, I'll usually start out testing with a donut shape, since they're easy to generate, mathematically. Also, I just like the idea of donuts. Did I mention that already?
43. I don't have a house DVD player or a CD player, yet I have a bunch of DVDs and hundreds of CDs. (I do have computer disc drives, though. And a car CD changer.) These days I just buy a CD, bring it home, and "install" it in my mp3 collection, so I can play it from anywhere without worrying about losing or damaging the media.
44. I'm pretty much the worst email correspondent. Just really, really bad at getting back to people in a timely fashion. Awful.
45. I am also not real fond of talking on the phone. Ever since working in tech support. I am very VERY not-fond of talking people through any sort of computer usage over the phone. In person or nothing, man. I hate describing the UI.
46. I have lived in 11 different houses.
47. I lived in various places in Hawaii for 19 years, Walnut Creek California for 1 year, Portland Oregon for 1 year, and Seattle Washington for 7 years this July.
48. Seattle's really my favorite place in the states right now. I know I'm supposed to be playing up the raininess to try and keep the population density down, but this is a truthful list, and Seattle just feels right, now.
49. I've been out on the open road in Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Arizona, and Massachusetts.
50. Outside of this country, I've only been to various locations in British Columbia, Canada. Oh, and Budapest, Hungary, for a week. Best goulash ever.
51. I pine for late 80's airwalk skate shoes. With the rubber armor plates and such. 720s. The ones I used to wear when I used to skateboard every day and flip over and land on my head once in a while.
52. When I was 7 or 8 young, I fell off my bike at speed coasting down a steep hill when I tried to brake with the rear wheel and spun out (I now know not to do this on wet streets.) I got a concussion and after that my mom made a rule that I had to wear a big ridiculous helmet whenever biking. Really big. I looked like a giant safety match. Anyway, that's the only time I ever went to the hospital for an injury.
53. I have 2 older sisters (Beanie and Caroline) and one younger brother (Ian). Beanie is the athletic one in law school, Caroline is the dramatic, thespian, SCA-member one who keeps breaking bones (and the only married one in the family). Ian is the musical anime-fan one who also has an online journal somewhere.
54. I took archery classes for 4 years, and tried fishing with it, being an archer in the SCA, etc. I still like archery but have no gear and no time to pursue another hobby.
55. I own a set of snow tires. They have little snowflakes around the sides and are named GISLAVED
56. I used to read a lot about existentialism. But now I'm
57. I really like the flavor of bacon. I have a book which has many bacon recipes, including desserts. I have not tried making the desserts, yet.
58. In seattle, I've played live band gigs at the ballard firehouse, the showbox, the colourbox, gibson's, the central, the fiesta bar, and the hurricane. I think I forgot some. In Hawaii I played at the fast zone, valentinos, some military base mess hall, the rendezvous, and nimitz hall (with Razed In Black)
59. If I don't braid my hair it poofs into a big afro. It is very curly and frizzy. I hate that.
60. Continuing in the "I like stuff that sucks" vein, I kind of like sitting around in malls. Planters filled with easy-to-maintain plants, smooth jazz muzak versions of popular songs, cool air, plastic predictable people. It's like being in "the sims", I guess. I don't shop too much, I just like the atmosphere, or lack of.
61. I like backhoes. They are like big mobile robot arms, often bright orange or yellow.
62. I have an irrational fear of bees. Gaaah, bees!!!
63. I use hungarian notation when programming, and I think might be irritating the other programmers but they're too polite to tell me. C'mon guys, I've been to actual Hungary. Magyar! Paprika!
64. Three more! Damn I have to get going. Uh.. I generally hang out with and enjoy the company of people around a decade older than me. There are numerous exceptions, but just in general, outside my friends, they seem to be the folks I feel most at home with.
65. I looove anthro furniture. I know it's supposed to go in an office. I just like how it looks. And how solid it is. And that you can just bolt extra parts to it. Oh, and the people that work at anthro are kick ass customer service people, possibly the kick ass-est. Based in Tualatin, OR.
66. My mom's name is "Eunice". She's the Chinese half of the family. She and her 4 sisters are named alphabetically: Audrey, Betty, Clara, Dot, Eunice.
